Boy Scout Troop Camping

Boy Scout Troop 74 tries to camp on a regular basis.  Sometimes that troop camps as much as once per month.  They at least try to camp once every 2 - 3 months.  Here is a list of some of the District and council activities that the troop also participated in:
  • Advance-O-Ree (Caswell District)
  • Chowan Merit Badge College
  • Pre-Camporee (Caswell District_
  • Barton Merit Badge College
  • Council Camporee

The troop also camps at several places in and around Greene County.  Here is a list of some of the recent places:

  • Harrells Farm - Former Scoutmaster Percy Harrell has land in Greene County that he lets the Troop camp at on a regular basis
  • Waldron's Pond - Wesley Church Rd, Farmville (Last Camp out was cancelled due to heavy rains)
  • The Refuge

We have also gone to the following NC State Parks

  • Meddoc Mountain State Park - We did hiking for some of the advancement requirements
  • Merchant's Millpond - We spent the day canoeing around

A couple of years ago we also camped at a troop leaders friends land in Fayetteville.  During that trip we visited several places including the Airborne and Special Operations Museum.

The Troop is always looking for new and exciting places to go camping.  So if you have any suggestions, please feel free to let the leadership know when you get up to the troop level.
