The purpose of this website is to keep you fully appraised of all upcoming events that are important to the success of parents and Scout so that young men can achieve the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, which is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Scout Oath | Scout Law |
On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. | | | | A Scout is: |
Trustworthy Loyal Helpful Friendly Courteous Kind | | Obedient Cheerful Thrifty Brave Clean Reverent |
One of the main aims of scouting is to provide Scouts opportunities to grow as leaders, thus we will always strive to maintain a boy-led, boy-run troop. As we help develop these attributes, we may not have time to work on merit badges in our troop meetings; thus, it is incumbent upon parents to help boys stay on track and earn merit badges with Scout buddies, in cooperation with a qualified merit badge counselor. Please also work with your young men to complete requirements of advancement (Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, etc.). Your participation is vital to your Scout's and our troop's success.
More updates will be forthcoming as we continue to enhance this site. In the meantime, thank you for your patience while we work to make our Boy Scout program all that it can and should be.
Have a great day,
Norman Herrington
Scoutmaster, Troop 27
