Webelos Resident Camp
July 26 - July 30, 2015
Bayport Scout Reservation
Jamaica, VA
This years Webelo Resident Camp will be held July 26 - 30, 2015 at Bayport Scout Reservation in Jamaica, VA. The theme for this years camp is "Treasures of The Hidden Sands", a treasure hunt theme.
The purpose of the Webelos Resident Camp is to become familiar with the natural surroundings at Bayport, to learn new and refresh current scouting skills, participate in long term camping, participate in a camp-wide campfire program, and have fun.
Webelos II scouts get an opportunity to preview some of the Boy Scout activities including the climbing tower
In addition to the above, Webelos scouts are also afforded the opportunity to achieve awards and sport belt loops that would be difficult to attain without attending Webelos Resident Camp.
The camp day begins at 7 am and concludes at 10 pm for lights out. The scouts are kept very busy throughout the day and well into the evening with a story and plot continuing to develop throughout the week.
Camp Fees are as follows for this years resident camp: $225 per scout and $125 per registered adult leader.
There will be a payment plan set up as follows:
The first payment of $75 is due to Samantha Cobb-Jennings at the Den Meeting on March 5, 2015.
The second payment of $75 is due at the den meeting on March 26, 2015.
The 3rd and final payment of $75 is due at the den meeting on April 30, 2015
Scouts should wear there class A uniforms to and from Bayport Scout Reservation. All pins or belt loops attached should be removed as they can be easily lost. Webelos hats and neckerchiefs should not be brought to camp as they too can be easily lost and will not be replaced. In addition, scouts should wear their swim trunks under their uniform pants on the arrival to camp as after sign-in, there will be a swim test check to complete. Do not worry about your scouts swimming capabilities, the staff will work with all swimmers of all abilities throughout the week to improve their skills.
All campers both youth and adult MUST have a completed BSA health and medical record (Parts A, B and C) when they attend camp. Part C must be signed by a medical doctor. This medical form will be turned in during the sign-in procedures upon arrival at camp. All completed medical forms must be turned in by the May 28th Den Meeting.
On Thursday, July 30, parents are invited to join their scouts at camp for lunch. This is a great opportunity for you to tour the facilities and hear all about what your scout has been working on throughout the week. There is an $8 / person charge for lunch and this money must be paid on the day the boys head up to camp. The goal is for all families going up on Thursday to travel together so they arrive and check in together. Information on a meeting time and place will be put out closer to the camp dates.
There is a leaders guide posted at the bottom to review with all pertinent forms as well as a gear guide. Start collecting your gear early so you'll have everything in place by the time July rolls around.
We look forward to seeing as many Webelos scouts as possible attend this exciting event and get a head start on all those Webelos activity pins.
