Have Fun, Make New Friends, See New Things.

For over 80 years, Cub Scouts have been having the time of their lives making new friends and learning new things in an environment designed to help them succeed.  From building his own pinewood derby car to learning how to roast the perfect marshmallow with his best friends at a family campout, your child will LOVE being a Cub Scout.  So if he's in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, or 6 to 10 years old, then its time for him to have some fun ... with Cub Scout Pack 179.

Cub Scout Pack 179, located in Montville NJ, was chartered in 1965 by the Montville Policemen's Benevolent Association (PBA) # 140.  We typically have about 50 Scouts from Hilldale, Valley View and Woodmont Elementary Schools.  Pack 179 belongs to the Fishawack District of Patriots’ Path Council.

Pack 179 is active throughout the year and we have the following key activities:
  • July – Fishing Trip
  • August – Hike
  • September – Raingutter Regatta
  • October – Family Camping Weekend
  • November – Cubmobile
  • December – Singing at The Chelsea and Holiday Party
  • January – Pinewood Derby
  • February – Blue & Gold Banquet
  • March – Winter Camping and Scouting for Food
  • April – Earth Day Cleanup
  • May – Rocket Day
  • June – Spring Camping and End of Year Picnic

Pack meetings are held on the third Friday of each month at Valley View Elementary School.  This is the time when all of the Scouts get together for awards, ceremonies and activities.  The Pack is divided into Dens with about 8 to 12 boys from the same grade.  First Graders are Tiger Cubs.  Second Graders are Wolves.  Third Graders are Bears.  Fourth and Fifth Graders are Webelos.  Dens meet once a month and often have activities, outings and events scheduled with just their small group.

Download the Adventures in Cub Scouting Parent Guidebook for more information about the Cub Scout program.

Registration packages for new and continuing Scouts can be found at our Download Forms Page.  These packages include registration instructions, registration forms, health forms and a parent talent survey.
